Sitges

Sitges holidays

Just a stone’s throw from the buzz of Barcelona, Sitges is a chic coastal haven that’s as big on nightlife as it is beach life. Thanks to its boho vibes and love of good times, it’s been popular spot with the cool crowd for years – all the way back to Picasso and Co. But it’s still bursting at the seams with Spanish charm and traditional touches, as modern art galleries and smart boutiques mix with cobbled streets and quaint churches. And this town loves to party, so expect a jam-packed events calendar on the cards too.

Miles of golden coastline

There are 17 beaches along Sitges’ coast, and they’re some of the best in the region. You’ll find sporty stretches with volleyball and water sports, as well as quieter coves and nudist beaches. They have golden sand and calm waters in common, and they’re mostly knitted together by a gorgeous, palm-lined prom.

Stylish nightlife

Strut down ‘Sin Street’ – Carrer del Primer de Maig – one of the coolest nightspots on the Med. It’s lined with sleek cocktail bars and clubs attracting a crowd of hip young things from dusk till dawn. This place is even home to the original Pacha, so it’s no wonder the club scene is such a big deal here. Every summer, the annual Gay Pride event lights up the town even more.

Culture and carnivals

You can browse quirky art galleries and antique shops around the narrow streets behind the waterfront. In the town square nearby, there are often live bands and musical events going on. But they’re just a warm-up – during February and March, the town shimmies and shakes its way through its famously fabulous carnival. And October welcomes the arty set for the annual Film Festival.

Beaches

If there’s one thing Sitges knows, it’s beaches – and these sandy spots are some of the best on the Med. Sunworshippers, siesta-lovers, walkers, readers, footballers, swimmers and kite-fliers – you name it, you’ll find them all socialising in the sun along the buzzy sands of Sitges.

Sights

Architecture, history, churches – culture-packed Sitges has got the lot. The Church of Sant Bartomeu makes an iconic splash on the town’s seafront, so make sure you get a snap or two of that. You’ll clock a stunning scene of modernist buildings, bronze sculptures and whitewashed houses while wandering around the old town.
