There are 17 beaches along Sitges’ coast, and they’re some of the best in the region. You’ll find sporty stretches with volleyball and water sports, as well as quieter coves and nudist beaches. They have golden sand and calm waters in common, and they’re mostly knitted together by a gorgeous, palm-lined prom.
Strut down ‘Sin Street’ – Carrer del Primer de Maig – one of the coolest nightspots on the Med. It’s lined with sleek cocktail bars and clubs attracting a crowd of hip young things from dusk till dawn. This place is even home to the original Pacha, so it’s no wonder the club scene is such a big deal here. Every summer, the annual Gay Pride event lights up the town even more.
You can browse quirky art galleries and antique shops around the narrow streets behind the waterfront. In the town square nearby, there are often live bands and musical events going on. But they’re just a warm-up – during February and March, the town shimmies and shakes its way through its famously fabulous carnival. And October welcomes the arty set for the annual Film Festival.
If there’s one thing Sitges knows, it’s beaches – and these sandy spots are some of the best on the Med. Sunworshippers, siesta-lovers, walkers, readers, footballers, swimmers and kite-fliers – you name it, you’ll find them all socialising in the sun along the buzzy sands of Sitges.
See all beaches (3)Architecture, history, churches – culture-packed Sitges has got the lot. The Church of Sant Bartomeu makes an iconic splash on the town’s seafront, so make sure you get a snap or two of that. You’ll clock a stunning scene of modernist buildings, bronze sculptures and whitewashed houses while wandering around the old town.

If you can tear yourself away from the beach, there are plenty of things to keep you busy round these parts. Leisure-lovers, you’ve got a waterpark and golf club to get stuck into, while you arty types have got a bunch of interesting galleries to hop between. There are plenty of museums to while away your afternoon in too.

It’s all about enjoying life to the full in Sitges, so it’s no surprise it’s a gastro fave. Tapas and pintxos bars are the way to go for most, many of which spill out onto the streets among the hubbub. But it’s not just casual Catalan flavours on the menu – you’ll find fine dining sit-down affairs and international cuisine too. Drink-wise, don’t miss the local reds and cava.

Sitges’ shopping scene ranges from splash-the-cash boutiques and global labels to quirky antique stores and fresh produce markets. How’s that for something for everyone? Calle Major and Calle Sant Francesc are the place to go for clothes, but make a beeline for Calle Parellades if you’re souvenir hunting.
See all shopping (1)Like to party? Then you’re in the right place. Sitges is famed for its colourful nightlife and is even home to the original Pacha nightclub. ‘Sin Street’ serves up heaps of cool bars and is the place to start. Throw in speakeasy-style gin joints, beach clubs, secret garden cocktails and camp cabaret, and you’ve got yourself one fabulous night out on the tiles!
